Advocacy
The United Methodist Church believes alcohol and other drugs presents social, economic, spiritual, and health challenges. In collaboration with the United Methodist General Board of Church and Society (GBCS), SPSARV provides opportunities for the active engagement of church leadership in advocating for a more effective and just response to alcohol, drugs and related violence. Church leaders are mobilized to help shape U.S. and international policies and shift the focus from punishment to prevention and treatment.
